On April 12th, Microsoft announced their newest phones, the KIN One and KIN Two. These devices were the result of the not-so-secret Project Pink, which consisted of the remainders of Danger as well as Microsoft’s own mobile team. So far it appears that these devices do not have themes as there is no SD card for storing them. In addition there is no app store for buying themes, wallpapers, or downloading apps. Nevertheless, since we brought you Sidekick Themes, we’re prepared to help you share free themes for the KIN should they become available. Everything that we host will be free to download.
So what is the Microsoft KIN? Well there are two of them: the KIN One and the KIN Two. Both of them share some features that makes them social networking phone:
KIN Spot is a quick and easy way to share photos, videos, and more with your friends. Just drag whatever it is to the KIN Spot and then choose where you want to share it.
KIN Loop is similar to MOTO Blur. It provides you a real-time display of what all your friends are up to right now.
KIN Studio is the desktop interface. If you had a Sidekick, you’re probably familiar with the Desktop Interface. KIN Studio has taken the DI and made it better with all sorts of new features, including a timeline of your photos and videos so you can go back and relive your adventures. KIN Studio is a site built in Flash, which isn’t supported on the KIN phones, so you’ll have to use a real computer.
Currently both the KIN One and KIN Two are available only on Verizon.
But the KIN One and KIN Two are different in a few ways, including the obvious difference in form factor.
The KIN One:
- Built for one-handed texting
- 5.0 megapixel camera that shoots SD video
- Mono speaker
- 4 gigabytes of storage
The KIN Two:
- Larger keyboard for two-handed typing
- 8.0 megapixel camera that shoots HD video
- Stereo speakers
- 8 gigabytes of storage
